About Us

DAVIDSON HUNTERS HELPING KIDS was formed in January 2008. We hit the ground running! on March 28,2008 we held our first fund raising banquet at RICHARD CHILDRESS RACING. We often thought it would never happen, but when the people of Davidson County heard what Hunters Helping Kids was all about, WOW!! We had the biggest banquet for a first year chapter in HHK history.
   After the banquet, plans were made for our first annual KIDS DAY. What a tremendous day of fun we had. 135 kids came out for wall climbing provided by the NC National Guard, shooting provided by the NC Wildlife, fishing, archery and much more.
   After that we talked to the kids at the American Children's Home and ask them to fill out a wish list for Christmas. With the help of the good people of Davidson County we filled the wish list of fifty five kids. On December 22 we loaded up our gang and took gifts and pizza to the kids. That was a blessed night for the Kids and all of us.
     Then the ladies of DHHK wanted to do something GIRLY! So they sent out e-mails to everyone they knew to ask for used Prom dresses. They collected about 175 slightly used and new dresses and offered them to any girl that needed a dress for the High School prom. It was a big hit, and all the girls at the American Children's Home was able to attend the prom at Central Davidson High School.
   Between all that the men took seven kids on their first ever deer hunt. Four of the kids went to Allagany County to land owned by Chad Hartley and Mike Miller. They brought back seven deer between them. We took the best four deer to Gobbles and Grunts Taxidermy and had them mounted. We surprised them at our second annual banquet when we presented them with their first deer mounted.
     With the continued help and support from the good people of Davidson County, HHK can continue to do for Kids. Not only by getting them out doors but in many different ways.
